Terms of Service

These are our terms in plain English. We want this to be clear and fair for everyone. By using Golf Match UK, you agree to the following.

1. What Golf Match UK is

Golf Match UK is a platform that helps golfers find courses, playing partners, society days, and deals across the UK. We connect people who want to play golf with other people who want to play golf. We are not a golf club, course operator, or booking agent, and we do not currently take payments through the platform.

Golf Match UK is operated by Adam Cutting, trading as Golf Match UK (a sole trader), of 27 Grangewood Avenue, Colchester, CO5 9FR. You can contact us at hello@golf-match.co.uk.

2. Your account

To use Golf Match UK, you need to create an account. Here is what we ask:

  • You must be 18 years old or over.
  • You must provide accurate information when you sign up.
  • One account per person. No fake accounts, no sharing accounts.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure. If you think someone else has access to your account, let us know straight away.
  • We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms or use the platform in a way that harms other users.

3. Acceptable use

We want Golf Match UK to be a welcoming place for all golfers. Please:

  • Be respectful to other users in all messages and interactions.
  • Do not spam, harass, or send unwanted messages to other users.
  • Do not use the platform for anything illegal or to promote illegal activity.
  • Do not impersonate other people or misrepresent yourself.
  • Do not try to scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the platform.
  • Do not use the platform to advertise or sell things unrelated to golf.

4. Content you post

You might post reviews, messages, scores, profile information, and other content on Golf Match UK. Here is how that works:

  • You own the content you create.
  • By posting content, you grant us a licence to display, store, and share it as part of the service (for example, showing your review on a course page, or sharing your score in a leaderboard).
  • Do not post anything defamatory, offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • We may remove content that breaks these terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful.

5. Course information accuracy

We display information about golf courses from multiple sources, including public data and information provided by courses themselves. While we do our best to keep this accurate, we cannot guarantee that green fees, opening hours, facilities, or other details are always up to date. Always check directly with the course if something is important to your visit.

6. Limitation of liability

Golf Match UK is a platform. We connect golfers with each other and with courses, but we do not organise or control your golf rounds, tee times, or in-person meetups.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law.

Subject to the above, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • the quality, safety, suitability, or outcome of any golf round, course, deal, or experience;
  • the acts, omissions, conduct, or behaviour of other users or third parties, including anyone you meet through the platform;
  • losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these terms; or
  • temporary unavailability, interruptions, errors, or delays caused by maintenance, technical issues, or events outside our reasonable control.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do our best to keep it running smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

7. Meeting other golfers safely

Golf Match UK is for adults aged 18 and over only. You are solely responsible for deciding whether to contact, meet, or play golf with another user, and for your own safety when doing so.

Please take sensible precautions when meeting someone for the first time, including meeting in a public place or at the golf course and letting someone you trust know your plans.

We do not carry out vetting, identity checks, or background checks on users, and we cannot guarantee any user's identity, intentions, or conduct.

8. Society organisers and members

Golf Match UK includes tools for golf societies. This section forms part of your agreement with us if you organise a society. The member paragraphs also explain how the service works if an organiser invites you, but receiving an invitation on its own does not create a contract between you and Golf Match.

If you run a society on Golf Match:

  • You may add only people whose details you are allowed to use for society admin. You must have a proper lawful basis, give members the privacy information the law requires, and get any consent PECR requires before we send emails on your behalf. Do not use bought, scraped, or unrelated contact lists.
  • You are responsible for keeping the details you upload accurate, for how you use your member list, and for dealing with your members' data protection requests. Tell us when something needs to be corrected or deleted and we will help.
  • For the members you add, you are the data controller and Golf Match is your processor. We store and use those details only to provide the invitation, RSVP, reminder, and tracking features, on your instructions. Your instructions include the features you switch on, including whether the automatic reminders are enabled. We keep the data confidential, protect it, use the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy, and delete or return it when you stop using the tools, except where we must keep a minimum record to honour an opt-out or meet a legal duty. This paragraph forms the data-processing terms required by Article 28 UK GDPR.
  • If you switch on invitations or reminders, we send them for you, to the people and on the timetable you choose or approve. Every message names your society and includes an opt-out, which we apply promptly. You remain responsible for any consent PECR requires.
  • Golf Match never receives, holds, or controls event money and does not provide payment services. You arrange payment directly with your members, or tell them who else to pay. Our tools only record the payment status you enter. You are responsible for collection, refunds, accounting, and any tax or legal obligations connected with the event.

If a society organiser added you as a member:

  • You can reply to invitations using your personal link without creating an account.
  • You can opt out of society emails at any time using the link in any message, and you can ask us to remove your details. See our Privacy Policy.
  • Any payment you make for a society event is directly with your organiser. Golf Match is not involved in that payment and is not a party to it.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will let you know by email or through a notice on the platform. Continuing to use Golf Match UK after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms, and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales.

You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these terms or your use of Golf Match UK.
