Keith gets a hole in one at dawn, and the only one there to see it is a crow. On Friday night his Saturday group drop out one by one: a bad back, kids' football, and Dave leaves the group. So Keith posts a game on Golf Match and shares the link. Priya, Sandra and Marcus join during the week and chat in the game. On Saturday morning Keith tops his first drive in front of all three of them, and they fall about laughing. Afterwards it's a cuppa on the bench, and a tap on Yes, we played.

Questions
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Signing up, posting a game, joining a game and browsing courses are all free, and finding games will stay free. Course deals are coming, starting with founding partners in Essex. They are not live yet.
How does a game work?
Post a game with a course, a day and a time, or join one someone else has posted. Everyone in the game gets a chat to sort the details. You book the tee time with the club yourselves and pay the club directly. Golf Match never books a tee time or takes a payment.
Who can see my name?
Other golfers see your first name and an initial (Matt H), plus anything you choose to put on your profile, like your area and playing level. Your email, phone number and full postcode stay private. Someone who is not signed in never sees who has joined a game.
Do I need an official handicap?
No. You pick a level (beginner, social or competitive) so you meet people who play like you. If you want to, you can log your rounds over time and follow your form.
What area do you cover?
We're starting in Essex, so that's where the games are. You can browse more than 2,000 courses across the UK right now, and we'll grow outwards from Essex.
Can I use Golf Match for my society?
Yes. Society organisers can paste in a member list, send everyone a personal RSVP link for each event, and see who is in and who has paid. Members pay you directly. Golf Match never handles the money.
How will course deals work?
Courses will be able to set their own deals for quiet times like midweek mornings and twilight slots. We're signing up founding course partners in Essex first, and deals are not live yet. Finding games and playing never costs you anything.
