The only Royal-titled golf club in Essex, founded in 1888 with the Royal prefix granted by Queen Victoria. The 18-hole course (par 71, 6,222 yards) was originally expanded by William Dunn Jr, then refined to 18 holes by James Braid in the 1920s. Set within Epping Forest with narrow fairways carved between ancient oak and beech trees.
